Quebec Minister of Finance Eric Girard has issued a call to the academic economists community to propose, through research and other means, actions to accelerate the economic recovery, ensure sustainable economic growth, revitalize Quebec's regions and reduce the budget deficit that will result from the COVID-19 pandemic, while maintaining adequate funding for health and education.

Zoom on the work of the EMPLOYMENT major project

CIRANO researchers have mobilized to assist governments and private partners in managing the COVID-19 crisis for all employment issues. For example, a tool to assess the risks and benefits of various professions and industries in relation to COVID-19 has been adapted for Quebec by a group of researchers including Catherine Haeck and Marie Connolly of CIRANO. This tool helps in the decision-making process regarding the reopening of different industries in the economy.

Human Resources Forum - Reorganization of work in a pandemic context
|
|
CIRANO invited its partners on June 3, 2020 to an exclusive Human Resources Forum on the theme of work reorganization in a pandemic context (telework, mental health in times of pandemic, performance, labour market). Three CIRANO Researchers, Sylvie St-Onge (HEC Montréal), Maude Boulet (ENAP) and Fabian Lange (McGill), presented their past and current research. A period of exchange of ideas, experiences and knowledge between CIRANO's partners and the researchers was followed by a brainstorming session that confirmed CIRANO's position as a gathering place that facilitates collaboration between research and the business world.
