Fiscal Policy Challenge, 2022-2023 Edition |

CIRANO is pleased to announce the launch of the new edition of the Fiscal Policy Challenge. The objective of this challenge is to find innovative and rigorous solutions to current public policy issues. Many sectors of activity are challenged by the economic changes that are occurring and innovation presents a unique opportunity to increase the productivity of the Quebec economy! It's in this context that this year's theme, the potential of innovation, was chosen. The question is: How can innovation contribute to facing the major societal challenges of Quebec?
Information and rules of the contest The contest is open to master's students or students who have completed 60 or more credits in a bachelor's degree in economics, political science, taxation or any other related field. For the 3 winners: Three prizes to be shared for a total amount of $4000, as well as the chance to present the fruit of their thoughts to the ministère des Finances du Québec and the possibility of an internship at the ministère des Finances. Registration deadline: March 31, 2023

First survey results of the Hybrid Work Research Project released

Nathalie de Marcellis-Warin, professor at Polytechnique Montréal, CIRANO CEO and Fellow was a member of the Quebec delegation in sustainable finance at the Climate Week that took place in Paris from October 24 to 28, 2022. Organized by Finance Montreal and Montreal International, this delegation had the objective to represent Quebec universities and research centers to highlight the importance of training, research projects and Scientific advice on sustainable finance, addressing climate change, ecological transition, ESG criteria, data science, AI and innovation in Quebec.

Based on the analysis of the decisional practice of the US Federal Trade Commission, the researcher considers two dimensions of this question. First, what are the risks that may result from undue data mining to the detriment of consumers? Second, can these strategies be the source of an unfair competitive advantage and if so, how can they be remedied? |
