Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Corridor at the Time of CUSMA's Renegotiation

The year 2025 begins under the banner of economic and commercial uncertainty, with the United States announcing the imposition of 25% tariffs on Canadian products. Although these measures have been given a 30-day postponement, they are undermining the negotiations surrounding the renegotiation of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

A veritable commercial and industrial lung between Canada and the United States, the SLGL region embodies the economic integration between the two countries and is a nerve centre for North American supply chains.

On 13 March, CIRANO will bring together decision-makers, researchers and experts to explore concrete solutions based on data science. Using GVCdtLAB tools, we will analyse the impacts of this trade crisis and identify pragmatic and sustainable strategies to meet the challenges ahead.

Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Corridor at the Time of CUSMA's Renegotiation.
Thursday, March 13, 2025
2025 will be marked by profound economic and commercial uncertainties, amplified by the United States' announcement to impose 25% tariffs on Canadian products, thus overturning the discussions surrounding the renegotiation of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA). In this echo chamber where opinions abound, how can we make the right judgments? What shocks are to be expected, and how should they be assessed? Which industries and investments should be prioritized? What opportunities can the GLSL corridor draw from this situation? Considering these questions, how can data science help us make informed decisions? To answer this, we invite you to a unique day combining expert panels and collaborative working groups.
