Yves Giroux was Canada's Parliamentary Budget Officer (PBO) from 2018 to 2025.
Mr Giroux joined the federal public service in 1995. Over the course of his career, he has risen through the ranks to hold senior positions with increasing responsibility, joining senior management in 2003.
Mr Giroux has in-depth knowledge and expertise in taxation, finance and social policy. He also has extensive experience in stakeholder relations and in managing large teams and multi-million dollar budgets. For more than 20 years, he was closely involved in the federal budget process in various capacities. He is highly regarded for his extensive knowledge of public policy development and analysis, federal budget preparation and the government expenditure system.
Over the course of his career, Mr Giroux has held a number of senior positions, including at the Canada Revenue Agency, the Privy Council Office and the Department of Finance Canada.
Mr Giroux is a graduate of the Université de Montréal, where he obtained a master's degree and a bachelor's degree, both in economics. He is married with two grown-up children.
