François Vaillancourt Presents a Report on the Private and Social Returns to Education as Part of the PRPG Lunchtime Conferences

On January 27, 2026, as part of the PRPG lunchtime conference series, François Vaillancourt (Université de Montréal, CIRANO) presented his report on the private and social returns to education.

In Le rendement privé et social de la scolarité postsecondaire professionnelle, collégiale et universitaire au Québec, François Vaillancourt (Université de Montréal, CIRANO) and Brahim Boudarbat (Université de Montréal, CIRANO) estimate the private and social rates of return to postsecondary education in Québec at the vocational, college, and university levels, for both women and men and across various fields of study. Their analysis shows that the profitability of pre-college vocational training is higher than the rate of return of technical college education, which itself exceeds that of pre-university college programs.
